M2A1 AMMO BOX...

               

The M2. 50 caliber ammo can/box was discontinued in 1950, and was replaced by the metal M2A1.

Ammunition can/box (also known as Chest Ammunition: M2A1 or  Box, Metal). The M2A1 ammunition can was created to contain link belts of 100.50 calibers. Cartridges for the M2 browning machine gun were actually used to transport and store a wide variety of ammunition calibers and packaging.
